Quest YSC is proud to offer a skills-oriented, tier program for it's U7-U10 players.  This program brings an objective skills based approach to soccer training.  It was designed by Space City FC professional staff -- Randy Evans & Craig Foster -- and follows US Soccer Federation & South Texas Youth Soccer Association (STYSA) recommended training regimens.  For general questions and information about the program, please contact Stephen Olson, Quest SHAL Coordinator.

The SHAL program brings a new level of programming to the Bay Area of Houston that reflects the latest in soccer development recommendations in a style that will easily present at an early age and engage our players. This programming is put together with a thoughtfulness that reflects our clubs mission statement and our desire to offer players a development program that will capture their enthusiasm, and desire to develop.  Our partnership with Space City FC and participation in the SHAL will help us offer what we believe is a high quality program while keeping our registration fees as low as possible.

Here's how it works - at the start of the season each player participates in a soccer skills evaluation test (see date below).  Data from the test is consolidated and analyzed across the entire program.  The results are used to form peer groups (or tiers) of players at similar developmental levels.  Balanced teams are formed within each tier and games are played between teams in the same tier.

We aim to make every game competitive across the entire program and to place your child on a team where he or she has a chance to succeed.  As the season progresses the results of each game are analyzed and team/tier adjustments are made when necessary.  Another key goal of our program is to ensure that your child is learning what they should be learning -- individual skill development (i.e. dribbling & general ball mastery).  A child's experience is largely influenced by the coach and the material the coach chooses to teach.  The luck of the draw can end in discontent or a fantastically rewarding season.  In most leagues it's a coin toss.  We want to take luck out of the equation.

We have designed U8 and U10 curricula that are used by every team at every training session.  Our professional staff supervise all training sessions and provide support, mentoring and quality control for the volunteer coaches.  Our goal is to make sure every child enrolled in this program gets the most advanced soccer training available while maintaining a fun environment for all.  The program also offers training for our dedicated volunteer soccer coaches.

PDF (Player Development Friendlies)
In addition to the standard training all SHAL players will have the opportunity to participate in the PDF (Player Development Friendlies) gaming league on Sundays for an extra $100. The $100 will cover the cost of dual registering for the PDF as well as league fees and the cost having pro staff trainers attend and run games. The PDF will require more travel (30+ mins away) with games played at several sites throughout the Houston area. While the players will play in combined age groups for the SHAL, the PDF teams will be broken into separate U9 and U10 age groups with U9 playing 6v6 and U10 8v8. Players will also be combined with players from SCFC and Pearland to form PDF teams. U8 players will also be permitted to play up to the U9 level for PDF only. No additional training sessions are planned for PDF teams since all players will be receiving the same technical training regardless of the region they are in. Any players interested in participating in the PDF should attend a separate PDF evaluation scheduled for January 17th & 19th, pre-registration for the evaluation is recommended and can be done through blue sombrero athttp://clubs.bluesombrero.com/Default.aspx?alias=clubs.bluesombrero.com/spacecityfc
